Cora Freeman

Cora Shirley Smith Freeman, 88, of Taylor, died Monday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of George Freeman. Born in Peckville, daughter of the late Melvin and Cora Shaffer Smith, Shirley raised her children and lived most of her life in Lyndhurst, N.J., before moving back to Northeastern Pa. Before retiring, she worked as a private secretary in the New York garment Industry. Surviving are two sons, George Freeman; and David Freeman and wife, Marie; two daughters, Carol James and husband, Gary; and Lisa Freeman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Freeman; a daughter-in-law, Sonia Freeman; and a sister, Betty McDade.Interment will be private.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
