Charles Edward "Chuck" Werner, 69, of Clarks Summit, died Friday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Chuck was the beloved husband of Carol (Mahon) for 43 years.
Born March 21, 1951, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Margaret (McGurrin) Werner. Charles graduated from South Catholic, Scranton, Pa. He spent time as a proprietor of Convenient Food Marts, Scranton, Pa., with his brothers and worked in sales at Raymour and Flanigan, but his true passion was his lifelong commitment to helping others achieve their individual paths of recovery. He most recently received his certification as both a peer and recovery specialist. He was employed at the Scranton Counseling Center as a certified recovery specialist.
Cherished father to Devon Ooi and husband, Chee, Boston, Mass.; Brooke McDonnell and husband, Brian, Clarks Summit; Brittany and companion, Adam, Boston; and Charles and wife, Karimah, Boston; loving brother to Jerry (Mary Kate) and John (Cheryl), both of Clarks Summit; Kathleen Holmes and Kieran Judge (Bruce), Sugarloaf; Mamie Hogg (Jamie) Naperville, Ill.; Peggy Hennemuth, (Kurt), Moosic Lakes; and Patty Asciutto (Frank) Hackettstown, N.J. He was a beloved "Poppy" to Willa, Louisa, Caroline and Catharine. Charles' generous and kind spirit was an inspiration to all. He will be forever missed by family, friends, neighbors and co-workers alike.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick Werner.
The funeral will be private with a memorial Mass at Church of St. Gregory to be celebrated by the Rev. John Lapera, pastor. Interment at the convenience of the family. Private celebration of Chuck's life will be held at the convenience of the family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Chuck's passing. I have wonderful memories of our times together with Convenient Food Mart. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his wife Carol, their children and all of Chuck's brothers and sisters. I pray that God will bless you during this difficult time.
